Meltt’s forthcoming third album represents the culmination of everything the Vancouver-based indie pop quartet has achieved so far, whilst simultaneously steering their sound in new and exciting directions. As the title suggests, ‘Pathways’ presents the band members with several crossroads, and they decide to take them all, immersing their sound in new, undulating textures whilst retaining the warm, rich glow that has characterised their music ever since their 2017 debut EP ‘Visions’. Thematically, ‘Pathways’ is about what Winkler describes as “four men approaching their thirties who are figuring out their path and their lives”. Major themes abound, ranging from relationships and the aftermath of loss to the strange and uncomfortable feeling that comes with navigating the modern world in general.
