French-Syrian Naïssam Jalal is a rising star in the global crossover music scene. Born in Paris, the flautist, singer and composer grew up in a family of Syrian painters and immersed herself in Arabic classical music from a young age. She studied in Cairo, where she played with greats such as Abdo Dagher and Fathy Salama, and later explored a wide range of styles in Paris, from jazz and tango to afrobeat, collaborating with artists such as Fatoumata Diawara, Cheick Tidiane Seck and Hamid Drake. With her latest album "Landscapes of Eternity" (2026), Jalal travels to North India, where she spent months wandering through sacred landscapes and studying under bansuri legend Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Each of the five contemplative pieces is rooted in a raga, connected to a specific time of day, an encounter between Indian classical music and contemporary jazz, carried by sarod, tabla, tanpura, piano and drums. The serene acoustics of De Duif, with its soaring vaulted ceilings and rich history, provide the perfect setting for this intimate seated concert.
